At Doha British School Wakra we have two whole school assemblies a week both led by the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher.
Our first assembly at the start of the week acts as a focal point for new initiatives and allows us to come together as a whole school community to consider issues that affect us personally or as a collective group. It is also a time when our “values” are introduced, discussed and explored.
At DBS Wakra we celebrate the success of all of our children in the end of week assembly. Children are nominated for the “Gold Book” by their teachers and receive their certificate at the end of the week in our whole school assembly. Nominations can be for effort and attainment in academic work or for demonstrating understanding and knowledge of aspects of emotional and social skills: being a good friend, helping someone.
House points are also collected and the winning house is presented with the trophy, in addition to our special “Dragon Trophy” which is presented to an individual or class who has shown particular excellence or progress in Literacy.
At DBS Wakra we are committed to acknowledging and celebrating the success or all of our students and photographs of all students for the week are posted on the school blog and website.
Parents are invited into school on a termly basis for class assemblies, where children share their learning and perform songs, drama and dance from the curriculum.
