Introduction to our Class

My name is Miss Flynn and I'm joining the school this year as one of the Reception Teachers. I'm from a place called Kildare in Ireland, which is renowned for its stud farms that breed racehorses. I'm very excited about this school year where the children will be having many educational adventures, discovering new skills and broadening their minds in a fun, enriching learning environment.

School starts every morning at 7am and the register is taken at 7.05am. If your child arrives after this time they will be marked late. It is vital for your child to be in school on time every day to help them settle, engage in the learning activity along with developing their independency skills. School finishes at 12.45pm so please ensure a prompt pick up.

Children will need to bring in a healthy lunch and snack along with a refillable water bottle. Please ensure all lunches do not contain Nutella or any other nut products as we have children with severe allergies.

Please ensure all items belonging to your child are clearly labelled e.g. Jumpers, PE kits, school hat, lunch box/bag, drink bottle.

As we really enjoy playing outside our school has a 'no hat, no play' policy so it is very important that your child has their hat with them everyday.

During the first couple of weeks I will arrange an opportunity to meet with all parents. We can discuss any valuable information such as important dates, class routines and assessments.

Looking forward to our first day and welcoming in all our little zebras.

Introduction to our Class

Welcome to Giraffe Class. My name is Miss Quick and I will be the teacher of Reception B this year. I have worked at DBS Wakra since it opened its doors in 2014 and have watched the school grow and develop. I originally come from a town called Morpeth in the North East of England.

Myself and my Teaching Assistant, Miss Latifat, look forward to welcoming your child into reception where we will cover many exciting topics throughout the year and begin our phonics to start reading and writing.

School starts every day at 7am and finishes at 12:45. It is essential all children are on time as we cover phonics first thing in the morning, and this is the most important part of the day!

All children must bring to school a healthy lunch and snack (strictly no nuts) and a water bottle. Children will also be given reading folders with their reading books and record inside. It is essential that these too, come to school every day.

The school has a strict ‘no hat, no play’ policy so please ensure your child has their hat with them every day too.

Every item of clothing and property your child brings to school must be clearly labelled with their name so it can be found and returned if lost.

I really look forward to meeting you all on your first day and I know we will have a fun and exciting year together with lots and lots of learning!
