Introduction to our Class

Hello I am Miss Jones and I will be teaching Year 1D this school year. The class will be known as Tiger Class. I am from Wales in the UK. This is my third year in DBS Wakra and I have been in Year 1 since the school opened. I am very excited to meet my new class and I have many exciting activities planned for them throughout the year. Our first class topic is called ‘Who am I?’ The topic will cover Geography, Science and Art. We will be learning about the countries and continents we are from to get to know one another a little more and our senses.

During the first few weeks I will arrange an opportunity to meet with all parents. This will give you the opportunity to meet with me and discuss any information that may be valuable such as uniforms, homework, important dates and assessments. Please ensure that children bring into school a healthy ‘snack’ like fruit which they can eat during the first morning break. Children must also have a clearly labelled hat for playtime outside. We operate a ‘no hat – no play’ policy. School begins at 7.00am and registration closes at 7.05am. Any children who attend after this time will be given a late mark. School finishes at 1.30pm so please ensure prompt pick up.

Introduction to our Class

Hello, my name is Jaime Milne and I will be teaching Year 1B, The Dolphin Class, this year. I am from Glasgow in Scotland. I am really excited to be teaching your child’s class and can guarantee that we will have lots of fun learning this year. I have been working at DBS Wakra for 2 years and have watched the school flourish during this time. During the first few weeks of term I will arrange an pportunity to meet with you to introduce myself, discuss the Year 1 curriculum, and answer any qusestions you might have.

Our first topic is called ‘Who am I?’’. This topic incorporates elements of Science and Geography. Miss Jones, Mrs Ross and I have planned lots of exciting activities around this topic that your child will love.

Children must have a healthy snack and a healthy lunch with them every day. They should also bring a cap; we have a strict ‘no cap, no play’ policy at school. School begins promptly at 7.00am and registration closes at 7.05am. If your child arrives after 7.05am, they will be marked late. The first 20 minutes of the day are very important to your child’s progression because we consolidate phonics learning during this time. School finishes at 1.30pm so please ensure that someone is there to collect your child at this time.

We use a behaviour management and reward system called Class Dojo, which notifies you every time your child receives points for positive behaviour or excellent work. It is also a means of communicating with me. You will receive more information about how to use the Class Dojo app once the term starts.

Welcome Letter Dolphin Class

Introduction to our Class

Hi. My name is Mrs Claire Ross and I will be teaching Year One also known as the Fox class. I originally hail from the beautiful emerald Isle that is Ireland. I have been teaching in Wakra since 2014 when the school first opened it doors. In my few years working here I have witnessed the school grow and expand into a vibrant and inclusive school and I look forward to yet another interesting year as I move from Reception to working with Year One.

In the first term our topic is, ‘Who am I?’. Working alongside my colleagues Mr Milne and Ms Jones we plan to deliver an exciting array of lessons in all subject areas to kick start the school year!

I look forward to meeting with you in the coming days where I can answer any questions you may have in more detail and I can introduce myself to you in person.

Please note that children must have a healthy snack and a healthy lunch with them every day. Please also note that all children must have every item of clothing labeled including other items such as hats, lunchboxes and water bottles. Such items at times can be replaced and it is easier to assign to the correct student if clearly labeled.

Please also be advised, that I use a behaviour management and reward system called Class Dojo, which notifies you every time your child receives points for positive behaviour or excellent work. It is also a means of communicating with me within school hours. You will receive more information about how to use the Class Dojo app once the term starts.

I look forward to meeting with you and of course my new bunch of fantastic foxes!
